Prepare the catalog as a reliable source
Start with product titles, descriptions, prices, variants, inventory states, and imagery that can stand on their own. Social automation magnifies whatever is already in the catalog, including weak crops and ambiguous product names.
Choose a small launch collection and define which product field supplies the hook, proof point, price, and destination URL. Document fallbacks for products without video or lifestyle photography.
Do not let a social tool infer discounts, scarcity, customer outcomes, or material claims that are absent from the catalog.
Working checklist
- Audit ten representative products
- Standardize image aspect ratios
- Mark products that must not be promoted
- Confirm destination URLs
Connect channels with the least privilege
Use a business Instagram account connected through the vendor's documented Meta authorization flow. Record who owns the connection and which account will receive security notifications.
Grant only the permissions required for publishing and analytics. Keep a short connection register so a future password change or employee departure does not silently break the schedule.
Avoid shared personal passwords and undocumented browser automation. They make failures harder to diagnose and can conflict with platform rules.
Working checklist
- Confirm Business account status
- Record the connection owner
- Test one unpublished draft
- Set a quarterly access review
Build a product-to-post recipe
Define a repeatable recipe for a product spotlight, a problem-solution post, a feature carousel, and a short Reel. Each recipe should name the required inputs and the reason a shopper would care.
Write brand rules as decisions: preferred vocabulary, claims to avoid, caption length, emoji policy, accessibility language, and where a call to action belongs.
A template should create consistency without making every product look interchangeable. Rotate the visual evidence and narrative angle, not merely the background color.
Working checklist
- Create four post recipes
- Add banned claims
- Set caption and alt-text rules
- Define a CTA library
Review and schedule a two-week pilot
Generate a two-week batch, then review every draft in one sitting. Batch review makes repeated phrasing, poor crops, and weak hooks much easier to spot.
Schedule around the store's real operating rhythm. Leave space for launches, restocks, customer stories, and reactive posts instead of filling every slot with catalog output.
Do not judge the system only by likes. Track profile actions, qualified site visits, product-page engagement, saves, assisted revenue, and the time the workflow actually saved.
Working checklist
- Review mobile previews
- Check every tagged product
- Reserve unscheduled capacity
- Record the baseline production time
